Spring is here. Kind of. This is the Pacific NorthWest after all, so our spring means rain, winds, and 40 degree weather. But I lucked out last Thursday when I did Vann and Lisa’s 10 year wedding anniversary shoot. The sun peaked out, it was at least 50 degrees, and no rain. I call that a win!
We wandered around the state capital campus, were mesmerized by the beautiful flowers, and talked about marriage. Ten years is quite a long time to be married. Especially with Vann being in the military. Military wives have so much respect from me, moving all over the country, all over the world, being strong, stable hearts in their children’s lives when their husband’s are deployed, trying not to worry every second of every day that their husband’s are gone, and then learning to live together again after an 18 month deployment. But the love between these two was infectious. They love each other fiercely, and they laugh, so much.
I asked them as we were walking back to our cars what their advice would be for other couples. Vann said he had to learn to truly appreciate Lisa, and it’s clear he utterly adores her, the way he couldn’t take his eyes off of her for the entire shoot. And Lisa said to laugh, and don’t sweat the small the stuff. She is strong, and compassionate, and I loved watching her melt into Vann’s arms when I would ask them to get close. This is love.
The colors around the capitol were so romantic. I was absolutely in awe of all the trees!
I loved watching them just be together. I am a sucker for a good love story, and after ten years they have got it down pat!
We had to take a stop at the back of capitol campus to see the views of Capitol Lake. It definitely didn’t disappoint.
Vann gifted Lisa this beautiful tear shaped ring for “putting up with him” for ten years. Lisa said it was tear shaped for all the blood, sweat, and tears they’ve put in to their marriage. I love their sense humor!
Cheers to ten more years!
“How beautiful is it to find someone who ask for nothing but your company.”
